Original Klingon Disruptor from Star Trek

REFNUM: P028-0816

Description: (NBC-TV, 1966-69) Original prop Klingon disruptor with grey-painted wood frame and turned aluminum barrel, sight and frame accents, made for use in the few episodes featuring the Klingons. The disruptor also has a belt clip on the left side of the frame, for attachment to the Klingon’s uniforms. Measures 13 in. long. This piece comes direct from the collection of Star Trek art director Matt Jefferies, who designed the disruptor to resemble a pirate’s “blunderbuss”, as he thought the Klingons to be pirate-like! From June 1993 through March 1994, this disruptor was on loan to the Smithsonian’s National Air and Space Museum and exhibited in New York at the American Museum of Natural History / Hayden Planetarium as part of the continuing exhibition curated by the Smithsonian. Comes with a letter of provenance from Mrs. Matt Jefferies, as well as a letter to Mrs. Jefferies from the Smithsonian regarding the disruptor’s inclusion as a museum exhibit piece. A rare opportunity for collectors to acquire an important piece of Star Trek history.
