STAR TREK -- "The Empath"
Foam rubber head piece for 1 of the 3 Vions from this, a favorite original episode, some scuffing and scratching and interior mounting remnants. Kirk, Spock, and McCoy are trapped on an abandoned planet with three big brained aliens, and one beautiful female who is mute, and who McCoy christens 'Gem'. The Vions begin to injure the three earthers to test Gem, as she has the capacity to absorb their pain and cure their condition, but at great cost to herself. She must pass this test of compassion and selflessness to prove the worthiness of her race which faces imminent destruction, and which the Vion's have the ability to save. The Vions can save but one of a number of races doomed to extinction by the imminent expiration of their sun. Moody, intelligent, a great episode, and an extremely evocative artifact.

STAR TREK: THE MOTION PICTURE -- THE HEAD OF PERSIS KHAMBATTA
An uncanny head and chest slip cast mold in rubber of India's top female lead, brought over by Gene Roddenberry to play the female lead in the first feature film. Veeger, the hybrid of Earth's Voyager I space probe and a mythical alien probe with which it collides wants to take a human mate. The mold was made directly from Persis for a scene in which she would need to be perfectly still in the company of the mutated Veeger. Once the bust was complete, Khambatta sat for makeup while Phillips made up the model identically, down to the eyebrows, lip stick, blush. A truly remarkable (and beautiful) Star Trek artifact.
