MARK LENARD AND JANE WYATT VULCAN COSTUMES WORN AS “SAREK” AND “AMANDA” FROM THE STAR TREK EPISODE “JOURNEY TO BABEL”
(NBC-TV, 1966-69) From the classic Star Trek television series, presented here are the costumes of Spock’s parents, Ambassador Sarek & Amanda, from the memorable episode, “Journey to Babel”, in which Spock gives a life-saving blood transfusion to his father. Ambassador Sarek’s uniform ensemble consists of an iridescent black two-piece suit with large metallic green and gold inset panel on the chest, a wrist sash, and an ornate medallion signifying rank applied to the right sleeve as worn by Mark Lenard in his signature role. Amanda’s dress ensemble consists of a full-length yellow dress worn under a tie-dyed sheer garment of bright yellows, oranges and pinks, as worn by actress Jane Wyatt. The lot also includes several publicity stills of the actors wearing these impressive costumes aboard the USS Enterprise, as well as two costume continuity photos (one featuring Lenard in full regalia with a cigarette in hand). Originally acquired from the estate of the show’s costume designer, William Ware Theiss, these custom-made garments are important pieces of both television and science-fiction history, as worn by Spock’s parents – a Vulcan and a human!
