STAR TREK: VOYAGER THE MASK OF “THE CLOWN” | |||
Featured in the Star Trek: Voyager episode “The Thaw” in which the “Voyager” crew attempts to rescue a group of aliens who have placed themselves in cryogenic sleep. This mask embodies part of the horrifying dreamscape the aliens created to keep their minds alive while asleep, though is wasn't a nightmare until “The Clown” came into being, a character who is the manifestation of the alien’s combined fears. This mask is part of of a collection of props which form up his ‘circus of fear’. A plastic face mask with a molded smile, exaggerated cheeks, a large nose and an overall gleeful appearance. Gray with painted ‘clown make-up’ accents and formerly mounted on a wooden dowel with wrapped gray cord. This prop was used by award winning, multi-talented actor/comedian Michael McKean whose credits include “Saturday Night Live”, “A Mighty Wind”, “Waiting for Guffman”, Laverne and Shirley”, “Coneheads”, and the unforgettable “This is Spinal Tap”. The stick holding the mask has been removed for storage purposes, but is easily placed back onto the mask and features an interior placement for mounting. |
