STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION “EVOLUTION – THE EGG PROBE”
A model of a prop used in the Star Trek: The Next Generation episode “Evolution” wherein a “Dr. Paul Stubbs” (Ken Jenkins) created an advanced probe, dubbed “The Egg”, to observe the explosion of a red giant in a neutron star/red giant star system. The item itself is gray plastic, roughly egg-shaped lengthwise and hexagonal widthwise, an interior mechanism with two sets of exterior panels that are connected to each other by sets of girders and themselves accented with “access ports” and graphical applications identifying various components such as “Starfleet inventory number”, “Photon Compression”, “Super Contracting Wave Guide”, or warning “Caution Thruster Exhaust. The model is mounted on a pole and has various wires snaking down from it suggesting some kind of electrical components or mechanisms and ability of the front half to rotate further suggests. This prop model is approx. 16 X 10 X20.5 inches including the pole that the model is mounted on. Ken Jenkins currently portrays “Dr. Bob Kelso on NBC's “Scrubs”.
