STAR TREK: ENTERPRISE “LIQUID PLATINUM PAYOFF” FROM “THE XINDI”
A prop item and its corresponding case featured in the Star Trek: Enterprise episode “The Xindi”. The item is a silver colored metal case with a foam interior made to fit specifically the aluminum tube prop inside. The case features to powerful metal latches and a sturdy handle, the lid opens on two arms that keep it open. The item inside is the prop ‘liquefied platinum' payoff required by the “Mine Operator” (Stephen McHattie) before an audience would be arranged for “Captain Archer” (Scott Bakula) and his away team to meet a Xindi mine worker. The item is a silver aluminum cylinder which features an affixed box with both a static and a blinking light activated by a small switch on the bottom of the box, powered by two AAAA sized batteries. When the top is unscrewed from the battery box component a clear plastic container with another aluminum end can be pulled away inside which is an unknown liquid substance with a hardened mixture meant to appear as “platinum, in its liquefied state”. Screwed together the components measure approx. 7 X 3.25 inches diameter and the case measures approx. 14.5 X 11.5 X 5 inches.
