STAR TREK V: “CAPTAIN KIRK – ROCK CLIMBING COSTUME”
A costume featured in Star Trek V: The Final Frontier for wear by William Shatner in his portrayal of “Captain Kirk”. The costume is a rock climbing outfit composed of black trousers with neon green streaks in the lower legs, an iridescent purple sweater with orange fabric accents and collar, a climbing belt with a red chalk bag and a black colored metal carabiner, and a pair of Boreal name brand climbing shoes. The sweater depicts distress, a series of holes in the belly, and a degree of non-distracting liquid stains appears in certain light, the orange fabric is decidedly darkened due to storage conditions or purposeful distress. A degree of staining exists on the trousers and a hole on the rear right calf. The climbers belt is thicker belt for attachment to the body with an affixed ring that goes around the belt allowing for equipment to hang or slide around for convenience, one stitched on element has been removed from the belt, there is no similarity to this feature on any of the other belts yet encountered in similar costumes. The items feature no sewn in tags, inscriptions, or costumer’s tags. A slight degree of light fading is present in the shoulders of the sweater, however the item retains its aesthetic appeal.
