Rare original pilot episode script of Star Trek, “The Menagerie”, believed to be D.C. Fontana’s copy, and signed by Majel Barrett and Leonard Nimoy
(NBC-TV, 1966-69) Original 73pp script for the pilot episode, with revision inserts and original covers featuring an early incarnation of the Star Trek logo. Dorothy Fontana was Gene Roddenberry’s secretary at the time the pilot was filmed, and this script bears her handwriting on the cast sheet inside the script, suggesting that this may in fact have been her personal copy. The script has a number of important distinctions from the final storyline as filmed, including the name change of “Capt. James Winter” to “Capt. Christopher Pike” (listed prominently on a separate first page, inside the cover), as well as the actual title of the pilot, which at this time was “The Menagerie” and would later be changed to “The Cage”. The script is additionally signed on the title page by Majel Barrett and Leonard Nimoy. A rare and highly desirable original script from the inception of the series.
