STAR TREK III: SEARCH FOR SPOCK – “VULCAN COSTUME” | |||
The Vulcans are a humanoid race from the plant Vulcan who are known for their great sense of logic and stoic nature. They were one of the instrumental species responsible for establishing the United Federation of Planets and were featured throughout the Star Trek anthology. This Vulcan costume is believed to have been used by a background actor during the final scenes of Star Trek III: Search for Spock in which “Spock's” (Leonard Nimoy) soul was restored to him after a successful mind meld with “Dr. McCoy” (DeForest Kelley). The cream robe has layered sleeves, a hood and a zip up the back. Worn over the top is a gray sash with a band with woven symbols and a sewn on half-moon resin decoration. The decoration is blue with gold trim and a gold Vulcan symbol painted on it. Accompanying the robe is a rust color skull cap with holes for the ears to protrude through, a circular resin decoration on the front, a pointed fin running from the front of the cap to the back and a chin tie. |

This imposing Klingon costume was made for wear during the Star Trek: Enterprise series. The coat is made of stitched brown and tan leather pieces with an assortment of leather and faux fur pieces attached to the shoulders for detail. The sleeves are made from a combination of faux fur and chain-mail at the bottom. Brass colored metal rings have been added around the chain-mail for decoration. The harness is made from an amalgamation of leather pieces over a fabric frame complete with leather rope style details and leather stitching. The trousers are chocolate brown with pleats down the front and back and stirrups at the feet. Black spats are added for around the legs. Costume comes complete with costume tag that reads, “Enterprise, Klingon” and the names of four background actors including stunt man J.G. Hertzler. Also included is a full head Klingon mask used in Star Trek VI: Undiscovered Country, during a courtroom scene that involved around 200 Klingons. In order to dress that many actors in Klingon makeup, the background actors in the upper balconies wore these full faced masks to make the process quicker than actually attaching individual prosthetics to their faces. This latex head has been completely painted and airbrushed with hair attached behind the forehead ridges. Facial hair has been added for eyebrows and a two part beard. Under the hair at the back of the head is a concealed Velcro strip to allow the wearer to take the mask on and off more easily. Measures approx. 12 x 7 x 11 ½ inches. |

This lot is a costume uniform worn in Star Trek X: Nemesis by a Reman Warrior. An offshoot society of the Romulans, these aliens exist in almost total darkness, treated as second class citizens until a leader rises among them and puts their entire race on a path to conquest. With a starship more powerful than any other, built from a secret base and with uniforms and weapons all their own the Remans come out of the shadows and meet their enemies like hunters stalking prey. This costume is comprised of a purple full length uniform jumpsuit with gold trim that zips up the front, and has zips at the cuffs and ankles, matching gloves with zips that close with zips of their own, and a pair of matching boots. The collar features a ‘Reman X' on the back of it like the one that attaches to the belly via Velcro. Additionally it comes with a purple shoulder-accent unique to the Reman costume that Velcro together in the front and lace underneath the arms. Padding is evident within to protect the vinyl costume over which it is worn. The exterior is covered in molded plastic accents with intricate sewn in details. An internally worn vest is available for wear for comfort within the costume. The accompanying Reman head application was used to create the look of the alien species. Made of cast latex, this four piece set consists of the detailed skull cap with cranial ridges and spray-paint to compete the effect of Reman skin. The ears are separated but included. The face application is designed to cover the top half of the face and has the same detailed attention paid to it to create the finished Reman appearance. |

The item is metal with a metal wire wrapped grip painted with a multi-color petroleum sheen on the ‘blade' which is beveled to appear sharp. This item is unique in that it features an additional element, a metal tube affixed to the backside of one blade which is attached to a rubber tube at the grip. The point is for special effects ‘blood’ to squirt from the blade as the ‘cutting’ action takes place on screen. In fact, evidence of special effects ‘blood’ still exists on the ‘blade’. A pair of prop items featured in Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country, a miner's mask from Rura Penthe, and a set of manacles. The mask is made from sturdy molded plastic and features a front mounted guard which pivots up over the clear plastic eye shield, and a pair of functional lights are mounted on either side of the temples above the ear powered by a pair of AA sized 1.5volt batteries each, both activated by twist and with remaining power from production use. The manacles are rust brown painted sturdy plastic with gold adhesive accents and painted on metallic gold colored Klingon iconography. The manacles feature metal chain and hinges with foam for ease of wear on the insides painted to match. One set of manacles is made for people sized wrists, the other set is for a wrist and attachment to something else. The mask measures approx. 13.5 X 9 X 12 inches. |
