STAR TREK: TNG “USS ENTERPRISE-D SHUTTLEBAY MODEL” FROM “CAUSE AND EFFECT” | |||
An incredible model featured in the Star Trek: The Next Generation episode “Cause and Effect” wherein after experiencing multiple bouts of déjà vu, the crew of the “U.S.S. Enterprise-D” formulates a plan to escape their recurring time dilemma by decompressing the main shuttlebay to throw their disabled ship out of the path of an oncoming ship. The item is a model of the main shuttlebay made with a wood frame and multiple raised accents for added dimension. The item is painted to match the hull color of the “Enterprise-D” and is adorned with yellow painted signage indicating the registry number of the ship itself ‘1701 – D’. The model is further painted to appear exposed to space with beautifully colored ‘hull plates’ and features multiple adhered raised accents to further that appearance. A set of off-white colored plates are present under the signage meant to represent escape pod covers, they are not adhered to the model. The roll-up door is made in the same fashion as a roll top desk with multiple slats on a fabric backing that pulls on mounted track up to reveal the shuttlebay interior. The painted bay is scaled to appear lifesize and features a ‘launch control room’ overhanging the bay itself, with three ‘doors’ mounted on one of the walls to appear real enough for crewmen to walk through. The outer hull ‘roof’ comes away from the model to allow better access to the interior. Two episodic screen captures have been included in the picture lot, as of yet no actual shuttlecraft have been located to accompany this excellent item. The model measures approx. 9 X 48 X 57 inches inside its custom fashioned wood crate. The crate measures approx. 54 X 62 X 13.75 inches. (Did someone say Playmates action figure diorama?) |
