STAR TREK I: “WILLIAM SHATNER - CLASS-B UNIFORM TOP”
Another out of the ordinary costume element from Star Trek I: The Motion Picture. The item is a short sleeved Class-B Starfleet uniform top, cream colored, with an attached plastic bio-monitor, threads remaining from an unattached emblem patch for the left breast (not included), and a pair of attached command white division-rank strips on the shoulders. The strips indicate the wearer to be an as yet undetermined rank (conjecture has posited that it may be ‘crewman 2nd class) but depict a single solid gold thread bar. The sewn in Western Costume Co. tag reads ‘3215-I William Shatner' and gives a chest measurement, though it should be noted that at no time during Star Trek I: The Motion Picture do we see Shatner portraying any version of “Kirk” as anything other than a ‘rear-admiral’ or a ‘captain’.
