SALE: Hollywood Auction 27 ESTIMATE: $30000 - $50000
PRICE: $30000
Rare early Leonard Nimoy “Spock” tunic from the first season of Star Trek, also used for the pilot episode “The Cage”
(NBC-TV, 1966-69) Light purple velour tunic with Starfleet “Science” insignia at the upper left chest, and single gold braid ranking insignia on each sleeve. The name “Nimoy” is handwritten in white ink in the shoulder zipper. Worn by Nimoy for the earliest publicity photographs of the series, this uniform tunic also features a small slit in each of the cuffs, positively identifying it as an early first season tunic which was also used for the pilot episode, “The Cage”. Of particular note, the internal shoulder zipper (as shown) exhibits the original color of the tunic – light blue. During the production, repeated dry-cleanings had an adverse effect on the tunics, fading them from the original blue to the light lavender it demonstrates today, some forty years later. Exceedingly rare, this is the finest Spock tunic in existence and the most desirable of all the principal cast tunics from the series.
