STAR TREK: TNG “INTERPHASIC ORGANISM”
An unusual episode to say the least, “Phantasms” involves something truly impressive, “Data” (Brent Spiner) dreaming. In his sleeping states Data confronts an array of surreal situations and imagery, one a “cellular peptide cake” made up of none other than “Deanna Troi” (Mirina Sirtis). Soon, in one of the turbolifts, Data corners Troi and stabs her in the shoulder for no apparent reason but the reality of the situation becomes clear when Data enters a state of unreality and dreams the conclusion to the episode. The crew have become infected with ‘Interphasic Organisms', not visible to the naked eye, but revealed by way of an ‘Interphasic scanner’ (soon to be available in auction). Data’s actions against Troi appear to have to do with his unique android abilities and an attempt to live out his dream of slicing into her arm to remove one of the organisms. The item in question is an actual prop Interphasic Organism made from latex, resin, and metal components. The brilliantly preserved prop shot model features multiple legs and tentacles, tines at the mouth and anus all painted in a gruesome lifelike fashion, and a metal support pillar with screw thread base for attachment to a stand. The pillar has an approximate 23 inch length of yellow plastic cable with wiring inside presumably to work untested interior components. The item measures approx. 16 X 14 X 6 inches. |

The accompanying shoes are red and gray modified Nike's with pieces of red plastic attached over the laces. The costume is complete with a red helmet with a solid gray trimmed visor and chin strap. The helmet is actually Riker’s stunt double’s since Riker’s appears to have been lost to time. The right side of the visor has received some damage causing the gray metal trim to become partially detached. STAR TREK I: THE MOTION PICTURE “SPOCK” SPACESUIT
This authentic spacesuit was featured prominently in Star Trek I: The Motion Picture when “Spock” (Leonard Nimoy) left the “Enterprise” to conduct a mindmeld with the ‘V'Ger Probe’. Made from brown, orange, and white materials with insets of plastic and metal accents, this costume features an astonishing array of ribbed details at the knees, elbows, and around the chest and waist. Due to time and storage conditions the costume features a degree of wear as some of the orange of the exterior has bled into the white of the interior and internal padding has collected at the ankles and cuffs, yet the costume retains its overall intact appearance. The costume comes complete with a pair of gloves, a collar that Velcro’s into place around the neck and on the shoulders, and a pair of spats that clasp onto the legs of the jumpsuit. The costume also features a molded chest frame for a helmet; the frame features internal foam padding with multiple cutouts, a buckle and belt and lace holes on the side to keep it together; screw holes and screws are evident and both the back and the front feature multi-color painted accents and details. The helmet maintains it’s large fishbowl like faceplate and has internal padding, mounts for attachment to the frame, and an approximate 8.5 X 1.75 inch rectangular hole cut into the upper right hemisphere of the item for an undisclosed reason revealing internal foam. The interior of the gloves are inscribed ‘L. Nimoy’, the chest frame reads ‘Spock’ with a section of the foam missing, and the costume jumpsuit reads ‘Nimoy’ at the upper back. This incredible, once in a lifetime costume is an exceptional artifact from 1979 and its condition is excellent given the materials available at the time. The workmanship still holds up and the style it simply something of an era that would be difficult to duplicate. |

STAR TREK: FEATURE STYLE “SECURITY ARMOR”
Making appearances in various feature films like Star Trek I: The Motion Picture, The Search for Spock, The Voyage Home, and The Undiscovered Country this style of uniform and armor seems to be the standard for Starfleet security in the fleet and at base. Worn around white two piece uniforms in The Motion Picture, the costumes changed to similar red uniforms with black undershirts with ribbed collars, and a back and breast plate with a brown leather covered helmet featuring a white Starfleet arrowhead emblem on the front during The Search for Spock, the latter of which is included in this auction. The lot is a red two piece uniform with back and breast plate armor (with some degree of wear in the form of minor cracks, and a leather coated helmet, and a leather belt with metallic silver colored accent bars placed on its center, a pair of belt keeps, and a leather holster. Interior ‘Western Costume Co.' tags read ‘Ron Cragg’. The pants feature a dark green division stripe down the outside seams, and the costume comes with a removed green division strip for the left sleeve with an affixed circular pip indicating 10 years of service due to the Starfleet arrowhead logo centered on it, a nearly identical one indicating five years of service, and a silver colored bar indicating a commendation affixed between the prior two, as well as a red rank placement with affixed metal badge indicating the rank of ‘petty officer, 1st class’. The costumer’s tag with the accoutrements is inscribed ‘Security Guard, Federation Security Council’ indicating likely use in the final scenes of Star Trek III: The Search for Spock. |
