| (Paramount-TV, 1987-94) TR-580 Mark VII Non-Functioning Tricorder. This is a regular tricorder (non-medical), a style of which was used in various Star Trek series. This style of tricorder was used in the Next Generation series for seasons 3-7, the first three seasons of Deep Space 9 and the first season of Voyager (Earth years 2366-2371). This version was replaced by the TR 590 Mark X beginning with Voyager Season 2/Deep Space 9 Season 4. TR-580s were used in the series for a variety of tasks, including recording time trials and playing holographic messages. The non-functional tricorder is the same style / model as the light-up versions shown in the episode stills. Made of silvery grey vac-formed plastic with small printed labels to look like button and displays, measures 6 ½ x 3 in. | |

This custom made illuminating prop is made from resin and plastic with two metal connectors on top where the links were attached. Two red lights on the top and four green lights on the side flash on and off when activated by a small button on the front. | |

It was later used in the first season of Voyager in an episode entitled Prime Factors, to control an alien harp. The prop was made from part of a Romulan rifle and consists of a main resin body with a metal end and plastic nodules at the top. The nodules house red and blue lights, which illuminate when a button on the side is pressed. Measures 26 in. long. | |
